President

Hello there,

I am overjoyed and grateful for the opportunity to serve as your 2018-2019 State President. My goals this year are to increase membership, connect graduating seniors with their prospective FYRE group and increase state to local involvement.

I dream to live in a world where there is quality public education for every child, innovative businesses, key lime pie shops in every city and minions on every block. I currently attend the University of South Florida (GO BULLS) in Tampa, FL, studying, extremely hard, to teach mathematics to middle school students who don’t know they love math yet.

I have been active in the National Education Association’s (NEA) Student Program (SP) for three years, and counting. I’ve served as a NEA SP Organizing fellow, on the NEA Advisory Committee of Student Members, as the SFEA social media person, and the FAMU SFEA Vice President. A lot of my growth as a person, professional and overall advocate of public education has been a direct result of my involvement in the NEA. The people I have met, the opportunities I have been blessed with, the knowledge I have obtained, and the privilege of enhancing my leadership skills and trying new things are all gains that I believe is worth way more than my yearly dues.

Becoming a member of Student FEA is an experience you will never forget. Get involved, become an advocate, network, reach out, learn, grow and most of all have fun! Be the change that you want to see in the world. Whether you need chapter guidance, want to say hello, or you really need a new friend; feel free to contact me. I look forward to having an amazing year with you all.

Much love,

Jaffa Williams

Vice President

I’m currently a senior at the University of Central Florida majoring in Elementary Education. I served as president of my local chapter for the 2017-2018 school year, and I am excited to get more involved with expanding Student FEA. I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I am so grateful that I’ve found fellow aspiring educators through this incredible union! I’m honored to be serving as the 2018-2019 SFEA Vice President.

Hobbies: Reading, playing with dogs, shopping for my future classroom, and of course going to Disney!

Goals: I really want our local chapters to connect with each other to collaborate. It’s my goal to make sure that each local chapter is provided the resources and support to help our student members learn, grow, and improve in their future profession!

Secretary

Hi, my name is Amanda Sanchez and I am your state secretary for the 2018-2019 term. I am an elementary education major and currently in my third year at Florida Gulf Coast University. I love country music and all things Disney. I am extremely excited to see what this year will bring for our state and local chapters!

Social Media Director

Hello my name is Bri White and I am our state social media director. I am the youngest of five children; with two older brothers and two older sisters. Throughout high school, I was involved in a lot of different organizations, but my favorite was the National Honors Society. In this organization, myself and other students- ran after school tutoring sessions. This is where my love for education began. I just became addicted to sparkle in their eye when they would understand the lesson. I became involved in the SFEA during my freshman year through Florida Gulf Coast University's chapter, Eagles Educate. After joining, I was encouraged to attend the state held conference in Tampa. At the conference, I continued to fall in love with education and therefore decided to run for state social media director.

Historian

Hi everyone! My name is Bobbi Foote and I am a senior majoring in Special Education at Florida Gulf Coast University. My hometown is Waldorf, Maryland where I first discovered I wanted to teach. A fun fact about me is that my family developed my basement into a classroom. It was truthfully filled with white boards, lunch charts, behavior cards, classroom jobs, desks, and more. I am thrilled for this year being Historian for our state board. I hope to involve all of our Florida chapters in each other’s successes and events through our newsletter. Since writing is one of my other passions, I will be describing each chapters events that they do within their school and community as well as make others aware of upcoming events so they can attend. I can’t wait to work with all of you and help plan a great state conference that you can all learn from in your future endeavors!
